Meet Our Lead Servant
Elder Debora E. Williams’s spiritual journey began in February 1998 when God laid His spirit on her heart, and she felt the pull and urgency of God to answer His call, and Desire A Prayer Life Ministry was birthed.
The original seeds of prayer was planted in Elder Debora’s spirit in 1997 by Bishop Charles E. Betts Sr., Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and Pastor Helen Pittman White, Church Without Walls, as she continued to witness the power of prayer manifest in their lives. In 1999 Elder Debora joined The Community Church of Christ Baptist Church in Jamaica, New York, under the leadership and instruction of Bishop Lester L. Williams and Pastor Shirley G. Williams. Under their capable leadership, Elder Debora received extensive training and as she was being tested, she cultivated a strong prayer life. At that time, under their leadership, she held the title, Evangelist Debora.
In August 2001, she was blessed to have the opportunity to start a weekly Bible -Teaching Ministry at one of the oldest Public Hospitals in the country, Bellevue Hospital Center, New York City. The class studied the Bible and ministered to and prayed for one another. In 2006 Elder Debora partnered with her husband, Pastor Owen E. Williams, as Co-Pastor of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Jamaica, New York where she currently ministers to and serves the congregation. Under Pastor Williams' leadership, Elder Debora has launched several community health outreach programs, women’s ministries, and children’s programs at her church. In 2016, Elder Debora was ordained by Pastor Owen E. Williams at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. In 2019, she received an award for Outstanding Achievements in the Ministry. Elder Debora is also licensed by the New York State Chaplaincy Task Force.
Elder Debora retired from Bellevue Hospital Center in December of 2020 after 35 years of service, where she served as an Assistant Director in Administration. She has been married to Pastor Owen E. Williams for 31 years, and they are currently living in Texas. They are extremely proud of their only beautiful daughter, Desiree Rose. To God be the glory!
Elder Debora’s mantra is: “Ministry is my life, and my life is Ministry”
